What is coaching, and is it for you?
Coaching Basics
Coaching is a focused, confidential thinking partnership. Not advice, not therapy. We work on the real situation in front of you, so you can see it clearly and act with intention. The people I coach are capable and successful. They’re facing something the old playbook doesn’t quite solve. That gap is where coaching does its best work.
Do You Need Coaching
- Are you stepping into a role bigger than your last one?
- Are you navigating a transition, promotion, pivot, or an exit you didn’t choose?
- Do you have people who agree with you, but no one who tells you the truth?
- Is what got you here no longer enough for what comes next?
- Do you need to think something through with someone who has no stake in your ego?

HOW I COACH
Coaching isn’t advice. It’s a structured process for helping you see yourself and your situation more clearly, then move with intention.
My approach is grounded in Intentional Change Theory, a research-backed model developed at Case Western Reserve University that maps how people make lasting, self-directed change. It starts with a vision of your ideal self, works honestly through the gap between where you are and where you want to be, and builds from your strengths, not your deficits.
I use validated assessment tools including Hogan, DiSC, MBTI, and the Six Seconds EQ (SEI) to give you real data about how you lead, how others experience you, and where your greatest leverage is.
What you won’t get is a formula. Every engagement is built around you, your situation, your goals, and what you’re actually willing to do.

Professionals in Career Transition
A promotion you’re reaching for. A new role that’s bigger than the last one. A layoff you didn’t see coming. A pivot into something different. These moments ask you to rebuild your footing and, sometimes, your sense of who you are professionally. Coaching gives you room to think it through and move with intention instead of just reacting.
Founders and Family-Business Leaders
The moment you have to stop doing everything yourself and start leading through others. Succession and the weight that comes with it. Professionalizing something you built on instinct. Carrying legacy and relationships alongside the business. These are transitions most coaches have read about. I’ve been inside them.
Assessment and Debrief
Understanding how you lead, how others experience you, and where your greatest leverage is starts with real data. I offer validated assessments including Hogan, MBTI, DiSC, and the Six Seconds EQ, as standalone engagements or as part of a coaching relationship. Each includes a structured debrief so the results actually mean something and connect to what you’re working on.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is executive coaching, and how is it different from consulting?
Coaching is not someone handing you answers. It’s a structured conversation that helps you think more clearly, see patterns you may be missing, and make better choices with intention. Consulting focuses on the business problem and often includes recommendations or deliverables. Coaching focuses on you as the leader: how you think, decide, lead, communicate, and navigate what’s in front of you. I do both, but not in the same engagement. If you’re not sure which fits your situation, we’ll sort that out in the first conversation.
How do I know if coaching is right for me?
Coaching is worth exploring if you’re navigating a transition, stepping into a bigger role, rebuilding after a setback, leading through uncertainty, or sensing that the way you’ve operated before isn’t enough for what comes next. The people I work with are capable. They are not broken. They’re usually at an inflection point and want more clarity, honesty, and momentum than they can get by thinking it through alone.
What does a coaching engagement actually look like?
We start with a conversation to determine fit, focus, and what you want to work toward. If we move forward, the engagement typically includes regular coaching sessions, reflection between sessions, and practical action steps tied to the changes you want to make. When useful, I may also use validated assessments such as Hogan, MBTI, DiSC, or the Six Seconds EQ (SEI) to give us better data about how you lead, what drives you, and how others may experience you.
Who do you work with?
I work primarily with two kinds of clients. Professionals navigating career transitions: promotions, new roles, layoffs, pivots, or moments when their professional identity is shifting. And founders and family-business leaders navigating leadership transitions: scaling beyond themselves, succession, professionalizing what they built, or learning to lead through others instead of carrying everything personally. Both groups are facing the same core challenge: what got them here may not be enough for what comes next.
Do you offer assessments as a standalone service?
Yes. I offer standalone assessment and debrief engagements using Hogan, MBTI, DiSC, and the Six Seconds EQ (SEI) when the assessment is connected to a real development goal. The value is not in the report itself. The value is in understanding what the data means, how it connects to your current situation, and what you choose to do with it.
